About

Located in the heart of East Austin in a beautiful historical landmark building on East 11th Street. Home to Doc Young and his Drugstore in the 1920’s, one of the few owned and operated by an African American pharmacist.

Hillside Drugstore closed in the 70’s, after many incarnations including a barber shop, a bookstore and Gene's Po Boys, not much of the original drug store remained, except a small section of cabinetry behind the bar. The building was lovingly restored by the Hillside Farmacy team in 2011. In 2012 we received an award from Preservation Austin and 2019 the building was designated a Texas Historical Landmark and is still proudly owned by Doc Young’s family.

Now serving a different form of medicine in the form of fresh local food. Hillside prides itself on using the best seasonal sourced from "Farm to Table", Texas wildflower honey, locally roasted coffee and source our proteins from Texas ranchers and the Gulf.

Spend a lazy Sunday on our patio, or reserve our wine room for your next special occasion, either way we look forward to hosting you soon!
